New Zealand Giant Weta
Introduction:
Some NZ Giant Weta live in the Mahoenui Reserve in the Waikato region.
The Giant Weta has been around for 190 million years.
Physical Features:
It is brown and it has an exoskeleton, 3 main body parts -head thorax and abdomen. It has very long antennae.
Habitat:
It lives in the Waikato region and it also lives in the gorse bush.
Diet:
It eats little mini beasts.
Adaption:
They are camouflaged in the bush because they are are brown.
Predator:
Rats and dog, mice and wild cats.
Main threats:
Fire in the gorse bush.
Conclusion:
There are many different types of Weta in NZ but the Giant Weta is the biggest of them all.
